PITTSFORD SENIORS BRIGHTEN HOLIDAYS AT THE OPEN DOOR MISSION-2012

Participants at the Town of Pittsford’s VanHuysen Senior Center helped make the holidays more cheerful for those utilizing the services of the Open Door Mission in Downtown Rochester. Each senior selected a recipient (a male or female adult, child, or infant) and was responsible for providing

both fun and practical items to fill a stocking for that person. Our seniors filled 90 stockings (far surpassing their goal of 50 stockings) with holiday treats, warm hats and gloves, and personal items for children and adults in need. More than 60 hand-knitted hats were included with the stockings and each of our seniors took care to ensure each stocking was a unique gift. When the stockings were delivered to the Open Door Mission in December they nearly filled the back of a pickup truck! Many thanks to our seniors and staff at the VanHuysen Senior Center for making the holidays brighter for those in need.
