Marty Brewster, Director of Planning, Zoning and Development for the Town of Pittsford, was honored recently with the "Distinguished Service Award"
from the American Public Works Association. The APWA presents this award to acknowledge excellent service and special contributions in the field of public works. Marty was recognized for his great vision in many areas of land use, including:
- His knowledge and experience in water quality which played a key role in the establishment of the Irondequoit Watershed Committee and the Monroe County Stormwater Coalition.
- His active role in the Town of Pittsford's open space management (specifically the "50-50" zoning concept which has been in effect for the past 20 years). As a result of his hard work, the Town has served as a model for other communities throughout the region and the State.
- His forward and progressive thinking relative to stormwater management, flood protection and the enhancement of water quality.
The Town of Pittsford is proud of this accomplishment and extends its heartfelt gratitude to Marty Brewster for his 24 years of dedicated service to the community.
