This class is open to all adults, with English learning activities and games offered for children and teens. McCune, Jr., founding chair of the Department of Black Studies and Frederick Douglass Professor of African American Literature and Culture at the University of Rochester, takes a closer look at James Baldwin’s 1963 book The Fire Next Time. Dr. McCune will discuss some of the key passages in Baldwin’s text, offering a discussion of, and elaboration on, some of the most critical ideas shared.
Rochester Fencing Club instructors deliver a short history lesson and demonstration with real equipment. Participants will learn the basic skills involved in fencing with safe foam swords before getting a chance to face off and fence each other. For all ages.
