The Town of Pittsford Recreation Department recently received the Genesee Valley Recreation and Parks Society Special Event of the Year award for the Town of Pittsford's Family Halloween Fest. Competing in the Class II category (population 25,000 – 75,000), they will now be considered for the state level award

from the New York State Recreation and Parks Society, which will be decided in the spring of 2012.

Since 2003, the Town of Pittsford’s Recreation Department has brought Halloween fun and festivities to our community via the annual Family Halloween Fest. Held in conjunction with St. John Fisher College, the Fest offers treats, activities and entertainment especially geared toward families with young children. And just as importantly, the event serves as a fundraiser for the Pittsford Food Cupboard. The Family Halloween Fest has grown quite a bit over the years – this year we had over 5,000 attendees and collected over 80 boxes of food items and $250 in cash donations for the PFC. The Fest brings together generous donors and a wide range of volunteers – 250 youth and adults from 14 different organizations and businesses – who work together to help make it a success. Congratulations to our Recreation staff for receiving this honor – it is well deserved!
