Pittsford was proud to be one of five finalists for the 2019 Community Design Center of Rochester - CDCR Reshaping Rochester Robert Macon Urban Innovation and Activism award. Our nomination for the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center project recognized the Community Center's excellence in design and the facility's enrichment of the public realm. It was truly an honor to be nominated!

Our renovated and restored Community Center previously has received two awards for the project's design and impact. In June we were honored with the 2019 Architectural Design Excellence Award from The American Institute of Architects - Rochester Chapter, which celebrates the best in contemporary architecture and highlights the many ways buildings and spaces can improve our lives. In November of last year we received 2018 Exceptional Facility Design Award presented by the Genesee Valley Recreation and Parks Society.

The awards and nomination are each a valued recognition of the efforts made by our project partners, Community Center Citizen Committee and Town staff and board members as they worked together to implement an innovative approach to updating and expanding the Spiegel Pittsford Community Center. Preserving a historic landmark, keeping our Community Center in the heart of our community, and providing a top-notch, accessible, energy-efficient recreation facility to our residents is something about which we can all be proud! If you haven't had a chance to visit our Community Center yet, you can check out our photo gallery at http://www.townofpittsford.org/gallery-pscc-2019.

We're thankful for the support, collaboration and outstanding work of our project partners: HBT Architects, DGA Builders, LeChase Construction, Jensen/BRV Engineering, M/E Engineering, P.C., Concord Electric Corporation, BME Associates, Pipitone Enterprises, Unified Mechanical; our Community Center Citizen Committee members; Mary Gehl Doyle, former Town Board member and dedicated Board lead for the Community Center project; and our Town team, including Commissioner of Public Works Paul Schenkel, Recreation Director Jessie Hollenbeck, and the many staff members across all departments who contributed tirelessly to the success of this exceptional project.
