A Note to the Pittsford Community

We are grateful to all who attended and shared their perspectives during last night’s “Pittsford Community Conversation about Racism.” Your presence and participation were deeply appreciated.

Racism will not be tolerated in our community, with no exceptions. We are fully committed to eliminating racism, and to a culture of full inclusion where all are respected, supported and valued. We need to celebrate the uniqueness of each member of our community.

Next week the Superintendent of Schools will be meeting with his student advisory team to begin a process that will revise the Code of Conduct/anti-slur policy. This group of students has been advising the Superintendent for two years and is a cross representation of students in grades 9-12 from both high schools, and with diverse backgrounds.

The school district is currently working with last night’s facilitators to share out the community recommendations that came out of last night’s discussion. Once complete they will be posted on our homepage.

It is a priority that our schools reflect a welcoming community for all. We appreciate your partnership, feedback and offers of support now and into the future.

We are listening and invite you to join us as we continue our work to ensure that Pittsford is a welcoming community for all.

Sincerely,

Michael Pero
