Earth Day Clean-up Events Saturday & Sunday with Rotary

This weekend, Pittsford kicks off Earth Day activities in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Pittsford.

On Saturday afternoon, April 22, we'll lead a clean-up of Historic Canal Lock 62, beginning at 12:30 pm.  The Historic Canal Lock Park is situated at the back of the parking lot at Pittsford Plaza, behind Applebee's.  We expect the clean-up will last until about 2:30 pm.

If more volunteers turn out than are needed, they'll be deployed along the Auburn Trail, at the entrance to the trail at the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Clover Street, behind Clover Commons, and will work toward the Village.

On Sunday, April 23, we begin the annual Clean Sweep of the canal.   Participants should meet at the back of the Burgundy Basin Inn parking lot at 12:30 pm.  From there we'll clean up along the canal, going west to Schoen Place.

As a sponsor of these events, the Town of Pittsford will provide trash bags and will collect the filled bags.  Volunteers should bring their own gloves and dress appropriately for work in a wooded area.  In general this means wearing long sleeves and appropriate footwear.
