The NYS Department of Transportation has informed us that repairs to the Mitchell Road bridge, which runs over the canal in Pittsford, will continue through the winter and the bridge will remain closed during this time. NYS-DOT crews began in November to replace the bridge’s entire floor system. Per NYS-DOT, the project schedule is weather dependent, as the crews are also responsible for snow plowing state roads. The project is estimated to be completed, and the bridge reopened, by April, 2017; a mild winter could mean it will be completed earlier. NYS-DOT has said it will update us on timing as the project progresses. The Mitchell Road bridge runs between Route 96 (Jefferson Road) and Route 31 (Monroe Ave/Palmyra Road). Please use the posted alternate routes when traveling in the area.
