We were deeply saddened to hear last week that long-time Town Board member and former Town Supervisor Sandy Zutes passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
With fully twenty years’ service on the Town Board, the last as Supervisor, Sandy was one of the best-known members of our Town government. Certainly she was one of the best-liked.
Her two decades in elected office followed service on the Planning Board and on other volunteer boards before that; Sandy offered her skills, experience and great personal commitment to the Town of Pittsford for nearly 40 years. She touched the lives of countless members of our community, including especially so many Town employees.
While we at the Town of Pittsford will truly miss Sandy, we will remember the life and legacy of a person whose career of service exemplified an outstanding devotion to the town that she loved. We are grateful for the pleasure and privilege of working with such a genuinely dedicated and caring public servant.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sandy’s family; we wish them the comfort of fond memories and hope they find some solace in knowing that Sandy will always be remembered in Pittsford with affection and gratitude.
Sandy’s family has advised us that a public memorial service will be planned in the new year; we will pass along the details when we receive them.
