Rules have recently changed and the Monroe County Recycling Center (MCRC) now accepts plastic containers numbered 1 through 7. That means your yogurt cups and margarine tubs will be recycled into sustainable products instead of ending up in a landfill. Click HERE for a complete listing

What about plastic bags? Except for clear bags used to contain shredded paper, plastic bags and wrap are not allowed in your curbside recycling bin, but you can recycle them at major retailers such as Wegmans, Tops, Walmart, etc. Many other kinds of plastic bags/wrap – such as clean produce, drycleaning, and bread bags – should also be recycled at your local retail store.
