Town Proclaims May Historic Preservation Month

Town Supervisor Bill Smith began Historic Preservation Month in Pittsford with the reading of a proclamation on the steps of Town Hall. The proclamation recognized May as Historic Preservation Month in Pittsford and underscored the Town’s recognition of historic preservation’s central role in defining the aesthetic character of the community and its positive impact on the quality of life in Pittsford. Supervisor Smith was joined by Town Historian Audrey Johnson, Town Board member Matt O’Connor, and Design Review and Historic Preservation Board member Bonnie Salem. Historic Pittsford board member Rusty Likely and the Landmark Society of Western New York’s Executive Director Wayne Goodman and Associate Director of Preservation Larry Francer were also in attendance. In recognition of Historic Preservation Month, the Town’s e-newsletter and website will feature one of Pittsford’s historically designated properties each week, beginning with the May 7 eNews issue.
