At its regularly scheduled meeting on December 15, the Pittsford Town Board appointed attorney Robert M. Shaddock to the position of Town Justice; he will be sworn into office on Tuesday, December 29 at 5pm at Pittsford Town Court (3750 Monroe Avenue), just prior to the evening's session of Town Court. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Mr. Shaddock’s appointment fills a vacancy in Town Court created by the recent election of Town Justice William K. Taylor to the State Supreme Court. The appointed term runs from January 1 to December 31, 2016. Judge Shaddock would be eligible to stand for election in 2016 for a full four-year term.

“Pittsford is fortunate to have had numerous qualified candidates for the position of Town Justice," said Pittsford Councilman Jared C. Lusk, who chaired a selection committee established by the Town Board. "Mr. Shaddock stood out. His extensive legal experience as a trial attorney and his service as an Assistant Public Defender and an Administrative Law Judge for the Monroe County Department of Health equips him well to serve with distinction.”

Mr. Shaddock is a graduate of Hobart College and SUNY at Buffalo Law School. He is a partner with Barclay Damon LLP in Rochester.

“It will be my privilege and honor to serve as a Justice for the Town of Pittsford,” said Shaddock. “I am proud to live and raise my family here in Pittsford, and I am humbled by this opportunity. As Town Justice, I will be committed to upholding the law and promise to apply fairness, impartiality, compassion and firmness in each and every decision.”

Mr. Shaddock’s service to the community includes twenty years on the Town’s Zoning Board of Appeals and Parks and Recreation Board, service as Board Chair of the Southeast YMCA and coaching Pittsford Little League. He and his wife, Mary, have lived in Pittsford for 29 years and have two adult children, John and Charles.
