Town Board seeks to fill Town Justice vacancy | Apply by 12/1

The Pittsford Town Board seeks candidates interested in being appointed as a Town Justice. The appointee will replace Town Justice William K. Taylor, who takes office as a State Supreme Court Justice effective January 1, 2016.

State law authorizes the Pittsford Town Board to appoint a qualified person to the vacancy created by Justice Taylor’s departure. This appointed term would run from January 1 – December 31, 2016. The appointee would have the opportunity to run for election in 2016 for a full four-year term as Town Justice.

The Town Board will appoint an attorney admitted to practice in New York. In addition to that qualification, the appointee must: (1) be a citizen of the United States; (2) be at least eighteen (18) years of age; and (3) have been a resident of the Town for a minimum of thirty (30) days preceding appointment.
