Award recognizes design excellence and contributions to enriching the public realm
The renovated and restored Spiegel Pittsford Community Center has been nominated for a 2019 Reshaping Rochester award. This annual award recognizes exemplary projects and initiatives in a nine-county region that are deemed to have a positive impact on people, neighborhoods and communities. Our Community Center is one of five finalists for the Robert Macon Urban Innovation and Activism award. This award recognizes projects demonstrating excellence in design and enrichment of the public realm. Nominees are chosen based on:

• Excellence in a building or structure that has solved a design problem in a distinctive way
• Extent to which the completed project demonstrates enduring and notable design
• Integration of the project into a community’s context and the extent to which it benefits the public realm

Many thanks to our Community Center project partners HBT Architects, DGA Builders, LeChase Construction Service, Jensen/BRV Engineering, M/E Engineering, Concord Electric Corporation, BME Engineering, Pipitone Enterprises, and Unified Mechanical.

Our sincere thanks as well to the Town’s Community Center Citizen Committee members and to Mary Gehl Doyle, former Town Board member and dedicated Board lead for the Community Center project. We are also very grateful for the outstanding efforts of our Town team - Commissioner of Public Works Paul Schenkel, Recreation Director Jessie Hollenbeck, and the many staff members across all departments who contributed tirelessly to the success of this exceptional project.
