The Mitchell Road Bridge, which runs over the canal in Pittsford between Route 96 (Jefferson Road) and Route 31 (Monroe Ave/Palmyra Road), was reopened on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. It is now posted for a maximum weight of 22 tons.

The NYS Department of Transportation had closed the structure in August of 2016 after a bridge inspection and engineering analysis found the steel bridge in poor condition; prior to its closure, the bridge was posted for a maximum weight of 9 tons.  NYS-DOT began work in November of 2016 to replace the bridge’s entire floor system and make other critical repairs. Crews were able to continue work through the winter months, finishing the project well in advance of the initial April completion date estimate.  Many thanks to NYS-DOT and its bridge repair crew members for working through wintery weather to get the job done ahead of schedule.
