Planning for the Town’s Erie Canal Nature Park and Preserve is underway.  Click the link to view a recent presentation to the Town Board by the project’s consulting landscape architect Sue Steele.

Planning in conjunction with the Village of Pittsford, the design phase of the Erie Canal Park and Nature Preserve project began this past spring with an inventory of existing conditions and planned improvements.  Approvals, permitting and construction documents will be completed this fall, and the final design work is expected to be completed by year end.  Initial site preparation and the construction bid process will take place over the winter, with park construction starting in the spring. The park is scheduled to open this summer.

The Town’s land for the Erie Canal Nature Park and Preserve protects and conserves a beautiful and unique ecological area, including a thriving and healthy frog breeding habitat with four ponds and adjacent wetlands. Our landscape architect is designing the trails to provide easier public access to these 15 acres of unspoiled natural beauty in the heart of our community that are now permanently protected.
