The Town of Pittsford is currently seeking town residents to participate in its Comprehensive Plan Update Committee.  The committee will oversee and provide input to the Comprehensive Plan Update process and development of the updated plan.  Those interested may send a resume and letter of interest to Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Smith via email to bsmith@townofpittsford.org or via mail to Town of Pittsford, 11 South Main Street, Pittsford, NY 14534.

The Town’s Comprehensive Plan was last updated in 2009.  Its first Comprehensive Plan was developed in 1975 and was updated in 1986 and again in 1995.

A comprehensive plan furnishes the legal basis for all of a municipality’s zoning laws and represents the blueprint that guides a town’s or village’s Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals.  Created by residents, property owners and business owners with the assistance of municipal staff and volunteers, a Comprehensive Plan serves as a policy guide for the town’s development over time; it establishes a clear vision of the kind of place a community wants to be in the future, and provides a course of action to create this shared vision.
